In the Alconbury Elementary School library, kindergarten students kicked off the holiday season by exploring the history and magic of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. After listening to a read-aloud of Balloons Over Broadway: The True Story of the Puppeteer of Macy’s Parade by Melissa Sweet, students returned to their classrooms inspired and excited to create.

Ramstein Elementary School welcomed 120 prekindergarten students this week as part of the second year of DoDEA Europe’s phased rollout of prekindergarten. With eight classes, Ramstein now hosts the largest prekindergarten program in DoDEA Europe.

Designed to introduce young learners to military careers through hands-on experience, Camp Air Power offered a week of immersive activities, ranging from presenting the Colors to navigating obstacle courses. Participants also learned practical skills like self-defense, fire safety, personal finance management, and even simulated emergency medical response.

DoDEA Europe is proud to celebrate the Month of the Military Child (MoMC) across 64 schools in 8 countries, shining a spotlight on the strength, resilience, and courage of military-connected children. This month, our schools are hosting a wide range of events that include clap-ins, purple shirt days, interactive activities, performances by school bands, and more — all aimed at recognizing the vital role military children play in supporting their families and communities.
