The end of the 2025-2026 school year is here.  Hard to believe that we have had 175 instructional days in school since our first day on August18, 2025.  If you break these days down into minutes, it can be quite amazing to think of how all the time in these days was spent.  In English Language Arts our students have that subject for 120 minutes per day. That is a total of 21,000 minutes of literacy instruction for the school year.  We have math for 60 minutes per day for a total of 10,500 minutes of math instruction.  Science and Social Studies are each taught for a total of roughly 180 minutes per week for a total of 7,200 minutes of instruction per subject in the school year. Your students have specials (Library, STEAM, Music, Art, Host Nation, & PE) every six days for 45 minutes which equals 1,300 minutes of time for each subject area in the school year.

Looking at the amount of minutes we have spent teaching your child during the school year is mindboggling. In all those minutes are challenges and success, struggles and achievement, as well as frustration and joy.  Each one of these minutes was special to us as together we watched your child grow and improve throughout the school year.  All of these minutes and hours have gotten your child to the end of the school year a changed person…one that is bigger, brighter, stronger (academically and physically), and more accomplished than the one that started on August 18, 2025.

As we enter summer break, the tremendous number of minutes that your child has worked at school are to be celebrated.  Three cheers for ALL of our AES Dragons!  The staff and I wish you the best summer break ever.  I always say that every year is a great year at Alconbury Elementary School. I will go a step further, every minute at Alconbury Elementary School has been a great minute!
